Now is the time to Create, Connect and Focus to meet the challenges ahead.
HR Partners together with 40 guests, stepped back in time to enter the 100 year old Dome', which forms part of the historic Mission to Seafarers at Docklands. On a night in September, the Dome was transformed into an artists Studio, where curious guests experienced a night of networking, creativity, art and fun.
Trish Elkington, Director of the Mind Gallery believes that with tough times ahead, now is the time for employees to think creatively, connect with their team and focus on what they can do to make the biggest positive impact to the organizations success.
Create, Connect and Focus, were the three themes explored in a creative and artistic way with guests able to share strategies and network through a unique and engaging process.
Working in teams, guests were asked to think about the importance of creativity, connection and focus to their workplace. They were then taken through a series of creative thinking exercises, designed to stimulate the right brain, and result in a series of ideas, drawings and sketches. Together with the help of professional artists, the guests then drew and painted a picture which represented one of the key themes. After each team shared the meaning and stories behind their pictures, the original work was whisked away by the Mind Gallery team where it was enhanced and each teams piece bought together to create one overall piece.
Trish explained that the value of the Mind Gallery process is two-fold. The experience itself builds teams, instills creative thinking while focusing the team on a business goal. The sensory, unique and hands on experience creates ‘stickiness; and retention of the relevant business goal/theme which was explored during the session. The artistic and creative process ensures a far greater connection and ownership to the goal compared with more passive methods such as powerpoint presentations, emails or articles etc).
The second key benefit of the process is that the resulting piece of art is a constant visual reminder of the 'business theme' covered during the Mind Gallery session, together with the power of teamwork, and an obvious example that everyone is creative when given the chance and methodology. The art can then be used in on-going ways. Trish is delighted when the clients images are seen on wine bottle labels, screen savers, postcards or even the Annual General Review.
