HR Salary Survey – March 2017 Results & Analysis

HR Partners runs a free salary survey site called www.hrsalarysurvey.com.au   Each year we collate the previous year’s  data  to ascertain significant movements in base salary to HR Professionals across Australia. We are also able to observe the access HR Professionals have to specific employee benefits.

If we take salaries  first, some of the key findings indicate that HR Business Partners and       L & D Managers  have enjoyed significant increases in base salary (6% +)  when you compare 2015 and 2016 averages.

Each city,  Sydney, Melbourne & Brisbane have specific data sets and the demand for mid level HR Professionals in the Sydney market is borne out by a significant increase (17 %) in the base salaries  for HR Consultants.

The Melbourne data, shows significant increases among the Senior HR Business Partner and L & D categories  with a year on year percentage change of 8% and 16%  respectively.

Brisbane data shows impressive gains  for HR Business Partners and HR Advisors with that group enjoying increases in their base salary of between 2 % and 3 %.

The survey also shows a fascinating look at the provision of benefits to HR Managers. Over half, 54% are provided with mobile phones and 15% have a car allowance or are provided with company vehicles.

HR Business Partner’s do even better. 60% have company mobiles and 20% have company vehicles or car allowance. Interestingly 10% of this group have access to stock / share options as well whereas this is only 6 % of HR Managers.
