Our client is part of a large global organisation employing over 240,000 people and a strong local presence in the FMCG sector. This role will be based in Bayswater, Melbourne. As an essential service provider, they are working predominantly in the office with some flexibility.

This role will be fast paced so not for the faint hearted and require somebody who can think strategically but can work operationally and sometimes be very hands on. This company is growing and divesifying its services and M and A may be in its future.

They are a dynamic and progressive company who have a firm footprint in the Australian market. They currently employ several hundred people and have plans to increase this number. This role is the most senior HR role across Australia and as such assists and advises executive management in all HR issues and creates a trust-based partnership with internal customers developing, planning and executing innovative people strategies.

The role reports into the local Head of operations locally, however, has the full support and dotted line to the global CPO based in Eurpope. The role ensures effective delivery of HR Operations and Solutions to line management and senior management by partnering with HR colleagues (Center of Expertise, Service Centers) globally. They do have mature systems in place that you would expect in a global organisation.

A big focus of the role is to localize global perspectives and globalizes local perspectives in partnership with the other HR stakeholders (Country, BU, Business Area/Segment, Corporate).

This role is a key to supporting and mentoring leaders in the organisation, as well as ensuring that human resources strategies are closely aligned with organisational objectives while delivering HR best practices and initiatives. This role presents an opportunity to provide input, coaching and mentoring, to support the day-to-day operations of the overall organisation. Your role will also require you to design, develop and implement People & Culture strategic projects from start to end that are both cost and time efficient

About the role

The Head of Human Resources will be part of the leadership team and reports into the Executive, while collaborating with key business leaders, internal and external stakeholders.

Key components will include;

  • HR Strategy, development and alignment to organisation strategy
  • Renegotiate the EBA and manage all employee relations matters
  • Managing HR Operations including a high performing HR team of 3
  • Key leader at Executive level as a coach, mentor, support senior leaders in the organisation
  • Change Management capability to supporting change where needed in culture, structure and process and people capability, to deliver the desired business result
  • Learning & Development - develop fit for purpose initiatives at organisational level
  • Organisational Development - focus on culture
  • Succession and organisational engagement activities - develop and drive employee engagement within the business
  • Continuous improvement of process and efficiencies
  • Globalisation of local process and localization of global process.

About you

You are the ideal candidate for us, if you bring a depth of experience as a HR practitioner at Director level and a demonstrated ability to drive change and projects . You have had success in implementing and executing HR strategies, refining processes and designing solutions that optimises organisational performance. You enjoy working in global organisations and localising the delivery.

You have been recognised for your ability to build strong partnerships across an organisational. You have operated at Executive level throughout your experience and have done this through periods of transformation.

They have a very down to earth, pragmatic culture and a high blue collar workforce so you must love working in that environment and culture. Experience of working within a FMCG sector or industrialised environments would be highly valued.
