HR Partners by Randstad has a fantastic opportunity for a Workplace Health and Safety Officer to join our client site in Noosa. This role is a temporary role, Monday-Friday paying $52.93 per hour.

About the role:


This role reports to the Workplace Health and Safety Coordinator. In this role you will provide proactive support on work health and safety matters ensuring the provision of these services are aligned with legislative requirements and the expectations of the client. You will help to develop a workplace culture that recognises the importance of work health and safety and continuous improvement. Working with the Safety Coordinator to establish and maintain strong relationships with managers, supervisors and employees across the organisation, ensuring all parties understand their work health and safety duties and responsibilities.


  • Enable others to comply with their duties and responsibilities as described by the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 and clients work health and safety management systems.
  • Support the Workplace Health and Safety Coordinator to maintain and coordinate the delivery of work health and safety systems.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of work health and safety policies and procedures, through consultation and communication with management and employees.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to positively influence a safe work culture.
  • Perform workplace and worksite inspections to identify work health and safety hazards, along with any unsafe or suboptimal conditions or practices. When required, provide recommendations for suitable corrective actions.
  • Manage all safety hazards where necessary to ensure corrective actions are completed within the required timeframe.
  • Conduct investigations into work health and safety injuries, incidents, work-related illnesses, and hazardous occurrences. Provide timely recommendations for preventing recurrence in alignment with
  • Adhere to clients and relevant legislations specified timeframes.
  • Assist the Work Health and Safety Coordinator with tender evaluations for contractors and assist with ongoing contractor management.
  • Maintain up-to-date records within work health and safety data systems. Collaborate with the Workplace Health and Safety Coordinator to oversee work health and safety data and key performance indicators, aiding in the identification of emerging issues or trends.
  • Assist in maintaining and managing the work health and safety management software, Skytrust, with a strong focus on preserving data integrity. Collaborate with the Work Health and Safety Coordinator Advisor to create and implement health and safety initiatives, including training. Facilitate training for work health and safety initiatives, inductions and emergency preparedness with the assistance of the Work Health & Safety Support Officer.
  • Participate in or lead audits of the work health and safety management system, which encompass annual system audits, spot audits, and external audits.
  • Play a lead role in work health and safety team meetings, toolbox talks, Health and Safety Committee meetings and other meetings as required.
  • Collaborate with the Workplace Health and Safety Coordinator to develop the annual work health and safety training budget.
  • Collate documentation required for pre start meetings and/or specific maintenance and construction activities.

About the Individual:

  • Previous experience in leading projects in work health and safety initiatives and services in a large organisation.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation and awards and the ability to interpret this information.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience interpreting work health and safety legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Well-developed communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability in root cause analysis principles in the investigation of work-related incidents and events.
  • Ability to plan, prioritise and organise work to achieve goals and meet deadlines including dealing with competing demands and multiple tasks.

Required Qualifications:

  • Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety
  • Formal training in incident investigation (e.g. ICAM or TapRoot)
  • White Card or Blue Card (Construction)
  • Driver’s Licence – “C” class

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Diploma of Work Health and Safety or related discipline Certificate IV in Training & Assessment
  • Qualifications as a Fire Safety Advisor or willing to obtain
  • Knowledge of Worker’s Compensation and Rehabilitation requirements
