The Opportunity:
Reporting to the Chief People Officer in Sydney, with a dotted line to the Managing partner in Melbourne, the Senior HR Manager will be responsible for the full spectrum of HR activities, providing expert advice and strategic guidance across the firm. This hands-on role requires a blend of day to day operational excellence and strategic foresight.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Strategic HR Partnering: Collaborate with firm leadership to develop and execute HR strategies aligned with the firm's business objectives and growth plans.
- Talent Management: Oversee the entire employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, talent development, and succession planning.
- Employee Relations: Provide expert advice and support on all employee relations matters, including grievances, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
- Remuneration & Benefits: Manage the firm's remuneration and benefits framework, including bi-annual reviews, benchmarking, and the administration of superannuation and leave entitlements.
- Learning & Development: Identify training needs and develop and implement L&D programs that enhance the skills and capabilities of our legal and support staff.
- HR Policy & Compliance: Develop, review, and implement HR policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance and best practice. Stay abreast of changes in employment law and provide proactive advice.
- Culture & Engagement: Drive initiatives that foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performing culture, enhancing employee engagement and retention.
- HR Operations: Oversee HR administration, maintain accurate HR records, and leverage HRIS effectively.
- Performance Management: Champion and continuously improve the firm's performance management framework.
About You:
- Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3-5 years in a senior HR generalist or HR management role, ideally within a professional services environment (law firm experience highly regarded).
- Demonstrated experience in strategic HR partnering and leading a comprehensive HR function.
- Thorough understanding of Australian employment law, industrial relations, and HR best practices.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Proven ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion and integrity.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive and solutions-oriented approach.
- High level of emotional intelligence and an ability to navigate complex situations.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
