job description

HR Partners by Randstad has an opportunity for an experienced Assistant Director Corporate & Performance Reporting (EL1) or Senior Advisor Corporate & Performance Reporting (APS6) with extensive government experience to join their team. These roles are temporary, Monday-Friday within office hours and an immediate start. Offering a hybrid model and paying $60-$70+ per hour (depending on the level). This role is for 6 months with the potential of x2 6 month extensions. The successful individual is required for an immediate start, 29/4/24 preferable. Applications for the role close on 17/4/24.

About the role:

The Assistant Director Corporate & Performance Reporting (EL1) is responsible for

planning and implementing the department's performance reporting function, in addition to delivering the agency’s key corporate documents; the Portfolio Budget Statement, the Corporate Plan and the Annual Performance Statement. The role is responsible for articulating alignment between the agency’s strategic direction and business as usual operations, ensuring that performance reporting is effective and compliant, and communicating the agency’s performance achievement to external stakeholders.

Key accountabilities:

  • Lead the development of all non-financial information for the agency’s Portfolio Budget Statement, Corporate Plan and Annual Report, in line with the governance and accountability requirements set out in the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 and associated Rule.
  • Plan and coordinate end-to-end performance reporting cycles, including data collection and quality assurance, for external reporting obligations under the Commonwealth Performance Management Framework and other relevant guidance.
  • Analyse and interpret performance data in order to track performance against targets, identify risks and opportunities for improved performance against targets, and develop performance narrative (results, analysis, trends, and factors influencing performance).
  • Work with operational teams and data owners across the agency to ensure an appropriate level of data collection processes and performance reporting quality, including provision of advice, instruction and support and help to ensure a mature and integrated approach to corporate and performance reporting.
  • Produce timely, high-quality and meaningful reports for governance committees, particularly Audit and Risk Committee, as required.
  • Maintain awareness of the agency’s strategic direction, operating environment and operations to ensure that corporate documents are strategic, consistent and aligned to the agency’s objectives.
  • Coordinate and undertake research, analysis, and review of complex matters; identify emerging issues and develop evidence-based options and strategies to ensure problems are resolved and risks are mitigated in a timely manner.
  • (EL1 only) manage one or more direct reports, ensuring that work and deadlines are planned appropriately and that employees are coached, guided and developed to achieve results.

The Senior Advisor Corporate & Performance Reporting (APS6) will support the Assistant

Director to deliver the key accountabilities described above.

About the individual:

  • Deliver the Corporate Plan 2024-25 and the Annual Performance Statement 2024-25 (including appropriate project management, stakeholder engagement, quality assurance, and approvals).
  • Oversee the agency’s performance reporting function, including end-of-year reporting and quality assurance.
  • Support the development and implementation of a new suite of agency performance measures.
  • Preparation of briefs and reports to Executive and key governance committees.
  • Build and maintain effective networks with staff.
  • Adhere to APS Values, Code of Conduct, and Workplace Diversity Program.
  • Ensure compliance with Workplace Health and Safety obligations and contribute to risk identification and mitigation.
  • Experience in a similar role required.
  • Experience in state or federal government recruitment required.
  • Baseline clearance is required for this role.
  • Applicants must be based in Australia and be Australian citizens.
