HR Partners by Randstad has an opportunity for a Senior People and Culture Business Partner to join our client site in Townsville. This role is a temporary role Monday-Friday paying $73.46 per hour. This role is an immediate start until August 2024.


About the role:

  • Interpret and apply relevant industrial framework including the Industrial Relations Act (Qld) 2016, Queensland state awards and collective agreements whilst managing potential risk to the organisation.
  • Lead and conduct employee disciplinary/capability issues and investigations providing findings and recommendations.
  • Design and implement approaches to improve organisational, operational and people strategies addressing specific business imperatives that positively impact operational performance.
  • Design and lead effective organisational change initiatives in partnership with business leaders.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative, credible and trusting partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Use data analytics and reporting to advise and guide managers for effective and insightful decision-making. Distill information into key insights, clear recommendations and action plans.
  • Educate and influence stakeholders with regard to the implementation of consistent HR strategy and practices on all matters which reflect the People and Culture strategy, framework, policies, procedures, collective agreements and the current industrial framework, to deliver equity and consistency.
  • Work collaboratively with sections and teams to ensure people related activities are directed and linked to strategic business outcomes.
  • Work with sections and teams to embed a diversity strategy that reflects the profile of the local community and strengthens relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Design and deliver training, leadership development and other opportunities which build capability, skills and knowledge internally, with a focus on building and retaining a highly skilled workforce.
  • Identify opportunities and contribute to strategic decision making within the People and Culture section maintaining currency of professional knowledge, applying business acumen and fiscal responsibility when discussing strategies and operationalising plans within sections and teams.
  • Lead mentor and develop business partners and business units, providing operational support and direction as required.
  • Work collaboratively with other People and Culture Business Partners as a specialist team to ensure there is a consistent approach in service delivery.

About the individual:

  • Bachelor level qualifications in Human Resources, Business, Law or similar relevant qualification.
  • Extensive experience (7 + years) working in a partnering role within a diverse multi-disciplined organisation.
  • Expert knowledge of contemporary human resource/employee relations management practices, interpretation of legislation and industrial instruments and demonstrated ability to apply these to a broad range of HR issues in a complex environment.
  • Significant experience operating within a highly unionised workforce and managing complex industrial matters
  • Proven ability to educate, influence, coach, mentor and forge strong stakeholder relationships based on the provision of informed, sound advice that builds an environment of trust and respect.
  • High level of experience supporting a People and Culture function, whilst developing and mentoring a small team.
  • Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills which effectively deliver strategic advice to a broad customer group.
  • High level of personal resilience and self-awareness combined with business and financial acumen.
  • Proven ability to model the highest standard of ethical and professional behavior and act with integrity and confidentiality whilst representing stakeholders internally and externally.
  • Demonstrated ability to use HRIS systems and proficiency in Microsoft Suite of applications.
  • High level of ER case management (including non work-related injuries) experience including utilising systems to record and track cases.
  • Experience in role evaluation.
